CONNECTING TO PSI

Washington, DC - (September 4, 2008) - In the interest of providing better telephone care, the Family Mental Health Institute is now transferring PPD Hotline calls to the Postpartum Support International (PSI) Helpline.

The telephone number for their Helpline is 1-800-944-4PPD.

The PSI telephone network handles approximately 100 calls per month. PSI has representatives and local organizations throughout the United States and 26 countries along with referral information for each region. Helpline calls are routed to volunteers knowledgeable about local resources, and all calls are returned within 24 hours.

This move will allow FMHI to direct more of its resources towards its mission of making depression screening and treatment a national standard of care for all new mothers.

We've achieved this collaboration with PSI through the local support of PostpartumVA.
